IMAGINE 2020 Series: DEI 101

McNichols Building

10/11/2019 · 8:00AM

Denver Arts & Venues and Scientific and Cultural Facilities District invite you to join us at McNichols Civic Center Building to explore how organizations are including Equity, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives into their programs, business model and organizational culture.

This installment of our IMAGINE 2020 Speaker Series focuses on VISION ELEMENT #3: ACCESSIBILITY: Arts, culture and creativity serve as both a social equalizer and mode for authentic expression, and VISION ELEMENT #7: COLLECTIVE LEADERSHIP: Shared commitment, collaborative programming and joint accountability achieve results for our community.

About the event:
Audience demographics are changing and it is becoming critical to engage diverse communities if organizations wish to remain relevant. Funders are expecting that organizations not only offer programming to diverse communities, but that diversity is reflected at a board and staff level.

Where do you start? Are equity, diversity and inclusion the same thing? What does it mean to incorporate an equity lens or framework into your organization? How do you create an internal culture of equity?

In this session, you will hear from Tariana Navas-Nieves from Arts & Venues, Eleanor Savage from the Jerome Foundation and Suzi Q Smith from Lighthouse Writers Workshop. Through lecture and a panel moderated by Nita Mosby Tyler, Ph.D. from The Equity Project, LLC, you will learn steps you can take to embark on this journey, and will leave with tools to initiate change.
