IMAGINE 2020 Speaker Series: Creative Aging

McNichols Building

We all age, but how should we age? Pioneers of creative aging movement say that the arts are key to embracing the process of getting old and enjoying our longer lives.

This IMAGINE 2020 Speaker Series will not only help arts organizations design programs for an aging population, but will also interest baby boomers and older generations who are striving to incorporate creativity and cultural experiences into their lives.

Organizations all over the world are now focusing on developing and enhancing creative aging programs to improve the lives of older adults and their community. This emerging positive practice has been transforming and improving the lives of thousands of older adults worldwide for more than a decade.

Study after study has shown that regular participation in the arts by older adults helps to minimize age- related cognitive and physical decline and contributes to maintaining physical, intellectual and emotional health.

During this IMAGINE 2020 session we will explore the opportunity the creative community has to embrace this shift in our community. We will hear from groups that have made a commitment to creative aging by providing access to quality programming and have implemented best practice models for healthy caregiving.

This event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required.
